Human rights in East and West

The conference "Cultural Rights in Central and Eastern Europe: Gender, Heritage, Language" was jointly organized by the Cultural and Social Narratives Laboratory NGO (CSN Lab) together with the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (FNF), Office Russia and Central Asia in exile on 22 October 2023 in Yerevan, Armenia. HES Vice-Chair Erik Uszkiewicz as an author of the publication entitled "The Contemporary Human Rights Situation in Central and Eastern Europe", presented a paper on the discriminatory rhetoric and legislation of the Orbán government on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity, with a special focus on the relevant ongoing proceeding before the European Court of Justice.

The event included presentations by a number of human rights experts and was an attempt to promote dialogue among different countries in Eastern Europe.

The publication and the participation of Erik Uszkiewicz at the event was supported by the  Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom.
