Civil Techniques in Illiberal Regimes
Fanni Bársony, editor of the volume entitled Forms of Creative Resistance (in Hungarian available here), and Éva Tessza Udvarhelyi spoke at the book launch organised by the Civilisation Coalition on 14 July 2026 in Otthonka. The moderator was Anna Horváth, activism coordinator at Amnesty International Hungary. The case studies, published in the framework of the Resist Lab research project, examined movements and organisations emerging in numerous countries against political oppression as well as the decisive role of civil society. The roundtable participants also explored the question of how the new regime change in Hungary could have an impact on the opportunities of civil groups and citizen participation.
