On 5 June 2013 Judit Bayer and István Hegedűs represented HES at the new round of an expert meeting in the Independent Journalism Centre in Budapest. The participants discussed the recommendations of the high-level group established by the European Commission on media freedom and pluralism.
On 14 June 2013 Hungarian NGO-s completed their opinion on the recommendations of the High Level Group on Media Freedom and Pluralism (Frieberga Committee) as part of a public consultation initiated by the European Commission.
On 20 March 2022 the Bulgarian Dnevnik published an article on the forthcoming Hungarian parliamentary elections citing the assessment by István Hegedűs.
István Hegedűs was an invited speaker together with Timea Kodo and András Volom at the round-table discussion of the Long Island University Global Europe Seminar on 19 April 2020.
István Hegedűs participated at the annual Chatham House London Conference entitled "A Rules-Based International Order: Preservation and Modernization" on 13-14 June 2019 at the St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel.
