The Hungarian Europe Society, Congratulations, the Hungarian News Agency, and Censorship

On 11 July 2012, the Hungarian News Agency (MTI) refused to publish the declaration of the Hungarian Europe Society in an e-mail sent to the NGO. In this statement HES had congratulated to the journalists Aranka Szávuly and Balázs Nagy Navarro to their media prize announced in Leipzig. HES objected the decision of MTI in its response sent also in an e-mail. The conflict became public in an opinion-piece published on hvg.hu on 15 July 2012.

István Hegedűs represented HES at the conference entitled European Forum on Media Freedom organised by European Alternatives on 13 May 2011 in the Italian city.
A couple of HES members made a presentatiton at the 17th Annual Conference of the Hungarian Political Science Association entitled Structures and Futures of Europe at the István Károlyi Palast and the Central European University on 20-21 May 2011 in Budapest.
HES contributed to the organisation of the roundtable debate at the Central European University on 22 June 2011. Program
The Center for European Union Research of the Central European University and the Hungarian Europe Society organised a roundtable debate entitled „Where are they? Civil society actors and European integration” at the Central European University on 17 April 2012.
HES members met with Franziska Brantner, member of the Greens/European Free Alliance political group in the European Parliament for a discussion on European issues on 30 May 2012.
